In all discharge lamps the light is controlled by a gear (ballast). Its life span depends on the temperature. If the gear holds 10°C below the limit temperature the life span doubles.
Solljus has a housing with large cooling flanges and an open design that does not keep the heat inside the fixture. That chills the Solljus gears to 20°C below the limit temperature. That more than doubles the nominal life span of the Solljus gears.
